The information regarding the consequence damages and losses of 2004.12.26th "TSUNAMI" tragedies in Kinniya divisional secretariat division is provided hereto. Further the immediate, short and long term humanitarian and other needs according to its priority are also provided objecting to welcome the assistance and donations ..
Introduction:
Kinniya divisional secretariat division consists 75,000
population in 31 Grama Niladhary's divisions within the extent of 247.5Sq.km
land area in Trinco malee district, eastern province of Sri Lanka.
On the 26th December 2004 in between 8.45 am to 9.15 am scrambled swift waves
burst 30 feet over the eastern costal belt. Coastal belt 14.4 km in length and
land area 10.0 sq km in extent within the 16 Grama Niladharies division were
severely affected. So called "Tsunami"s roaring waves played havoc
and has swept off the land, premises and ruined properties of blameless
people of 16 Grama Niladharie's divisions within the limits of Kinniya divisional
secretariat Division.

alternative location and provide required medical & other equipments with
an ambulance capable to cater 80,000 population
j. Restore the divested electricity supply in affected area
k Attend repairs to the school building and provide furniture and teaching aids
